No pickguardThe CF Martin Super D is a dreadnought that goes to 11, a slightly inflated body. A standard Martin Dreadnought is 15.5 " wide at the lower bought, the SUPER D is 16 7/16" wide at lower bout so almost a whole inch wider. The SUPER D had a bigger fatter fuller sound and the difference is very noticeable . I have been fascinated by the idea of the SUPER D but have never had one in my hands until I received this guitar and I am very please with it. This guitar is one of 2 guitars I ordered with these specs and they are unique from any other SUPER D guitars made. Thin satin finish and no pickguard allow the body to vibrate more freely. I personally picked out the wood set for this as my store is a 1 hour drive from the Martin factory and I can drive up to do special orders
