Basing the design on Gibson’s timeless semi-hollowbody platform with a sustain-enhancing, feedback-fighting center block, the company’s elite Custom Shop luthiers exhaustively pored over scans of the coveted prototypes to bring you a guitar, as a ’60s Gibson advertisement stated, “as exciting as the young performer who helped create it.” A laminated maple body with elongated diamond sound holes paired with a mahogany set neck featuring a non-reverse Firebird headstock give this sumptuous instrument serious stage and studio credibility, while its dual Custom Bucker pickups serve up a veritable smorgasbord of tone.
